1. n. The trade-name of naphthol bismuth or basic β-naphthol bismuth, (Bi(C₁₀H₇O)₃)₂.Bi₂O₃ or Bi(C₁₀H₇O)₃.3HO, a neutral non-irritating light-brown powder. It is used in medicine as a sedative and antiseptic, because in the intestine it is resolved into its constituents.
