1. n. A genus of small mole-like insectivorous mammals of Madagascar, sometimes giving name to a subfamily Oryzoryctinæ of Centetidæ, more properly ranged with Geogale in a subfamily Geogalinæ of Potamogalidæ: so named from burrowing in rice-fields. There are 2 species, O. hova and O. tetradactylus. Also written, incorrectly, Orizorictes and Oryzorictes.
