1. n. An explosive composed or liquid nitrogen tetroxid mixed with carbon disulphid or other liquid combustible, in the proportion of three volumes of the former to two of the combustible. The materials can be separately carried, and are mixed as needed for use. The strength of this explosive is slightly less than that of dynamite, except when nitrotoluene is substituted for carbon disulphid, when it has the same strength.
