1. n. A liquid hydrocarbon mixture obtained from petroleum.
2. n. A name, first used by Bous-singault, of the liquid portion of asphalt occurring mixed in various proportions with the solid ingredient asphaltene. Both these substances are probably themselves mixtures. See asphaltene.
