A dog breed owned by Jean-Luc Picard of the _Enterprise_. Har har. Actually a dog breed known "since the Middle Ages" especially in northern France (says Simon & Schuster's Guide to Dogs, 1980). "The Picardy is a classic sheepdog with all the qualifications of a persevering and careful herder and an excellent guard dog. It is resistant to all sorts of bad weather due to its thick coat, which no water can penetrate." Just like good ol' Jean-Luc.
