Looks as though it's still around. Or is this a different magazine?

Not sure if The Countryman has been published since the 70's - I've a good run purchased from an antiquarian that includes most issues published in the 1950's, and a few straglers from the 60's and early 70's. No end of fun and entertainment reading these, including the adverts.

"Many a pastime has been called the sport of kings, but for the miner in the Midlands and north of England it is pigeon racing".
But a subscription to The Countryman is looking ever more desirable.

" Many a pastime has been called the sport of kings, but for the miner in the Midlands and north of England it is pigeon racing." Opening sentence of an article by one Joe Harrison, from a Nottinghamshire mining town, printed in the British agricultural periodical "The Countryman", Winter 1956, p. 720.
