- In entomology, one of the two main divisions of the family Scarabæidæ, including those forms which have the abdominal spiracles (except the anterior ones) situated in the dorsal part of the abdominal segments, forming rows which diverge strongly, and with the last spiracle usually visible behind the elytra. The ligula is always connate with the mentum, and the larvæ have the lobes of the maxillæ connate. The other main division is Laparosticta. Also
