• noun A genus of prionodesmacean pelecypods having compressed, equivalve, concentrically plicated, thin-walled shells, with rounded outlines and short straight hinge-line. The species range from Silurian to Jurassic, and are especially abundant in Permian, Triassic, and Jurassic formations.
