"Poor in spirit" - ptochos - is also the word used in the LXX Isaiah 61.
Jesus quotes the words of the prophet Isaiah 61:1–2, saying, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor ptochos, in Greek meaning “crouching, cringing, or cowering spiritual beggars”.
[Footnote 1: It occurs many times in the Moeso-Gothic version of the Gospels for [Greek: ptochos].
