  • noun A handsome bird, Bernicla melanopiera, white with black wing-tips and yellow bill, common to the lakes and lagunes of the Peruvian Sierra and to Bolivia. It is easily domesticated. Commonly called in Peru huachua, and in Bolivia (Aymara) hualata.
