- In ancient prosody, constituting an episynthetic meter consisting of a dactylic hexameter (Pythian verse) followed by an iambic colon. The first Pythiambic system (stanza or strophe) subjoins an iambic dimeter and the second Pythiambic system (stanza or strophe) an iambic trimeter to the hexameter.
