1. n. A genus of rust-fungi of the order Uredinales, having æcidia, uredospores, and teleutospores. The teleutospores are united into cushion-like bodies with a group of sterile cells or cysts beneath and are borne at the apex of a stem consisting of several separate or united hyphæ. About 50 species have been described. They are mostly parasitic on leguminous plants in subtropical regions. R. cassiicola occurs on Cassia nictitans in the southern United States.
