• noun A genus of protrematous brachiopods from the Permo-Carboniferous rocks of India. It has the essential characters of the Strophomenacea, but these are veiled by the superabundant growth of cellular shell-tissue which gives it a form and structure similar to that of the cyathophylloid corals or that of rudistid pelecypods, such as Radiolites and Hippurites.
