Sorry, no etymologies found.
DH and I shared a Vegetarian Rice Table, or rijsttafel often misspelled rijstaffel, a Dutch word that literally translates to "rice table", and is an elaborate meal adapted by the Dutch from the Indonesian feast called nasi padang:
Nothing beats a good Indonesian rijstaffel, especially when paired with plenty of cold Bier Bintang, an Indonesian beer made by Heineken.
But what if the limpidly tutor to be a despotic maravilla blunderer, atonicity vet, calabura thunderer prisonbreak, increasing demurrage, hectogram crazy, and all tightly rijstaffel amnesiac of a guy?
Make a point of trying Indonesian food at least once: rijstaffel is delicious, distinctive, and very very rare in the USA.
It’s amazing how this article manages to call its topic “rijsttafel”, “rijstaffel”, and “risttafel” in the span of a few sentences.
Just for the record, the best rijstaffel I’ve had was at Sari, located in the town of Heemstede, about 30 minutes or so by train from Amsterdam.
We’ve been looking at traveling abroad for some time now, and armed with your article, I can convince my partner to supplement her Franco-heavy culinary leanings with more examples of cuisine such as rijstaffel.
