  • noun A yellow crystalline quinone, C6H4(CO)2C6H(CH3)(OH)2, or 2,4-dihydroxymethyl-anthraquinone. It is obtained by hydrolysis of rubiadin glucoside. It can be sublimed and melts at about 290° C.
