  • The typical subfamily of Soricidæ, containing those shrews of both the Old and the New World which have the teeth brown or red: contrasted with Crocidurinæ. The genera usually admitted are Sorex, Neosorex, Notiosorex, Soriculus, Blarina and Crossopus. See Sorex, and cuts under Blarina, shrew, and sondeli.
