In the sky each species has its own flock shape, but all are part of a flexing cloud, like the silver mullet steering through the water below or the gray-green sueda bushes on the distant marsh edge, touching one another to become a low ridge of wild hedge, or the creamy cockles spitting the slip they have filtered for food, stippling the great whale’s tongue of mud.
