1. n. A machine for producing truly plane surfaces by grinding. The piece is held firmly on a table or carriage moving on true-surface ways, and is passed back and forth under a rapidly revolving emery-wheel or other grinder. The truth of the ways on which the table moves is reproduced on tho ground surface, in spite of varying hardness of the surface ground.
