1. n. A genus of suffruticose or herbaceous plants of the family Asteraceæ, characterized by their woolly stems and leaves and showy heads of flowers. The genus is related to Helichrysum, which it closely resembles in habit, but is distinguished by the plumose pappus of the flowers. Thirty-six species occur in temperate and tropical Australia, while twelve are found in the Cape region of South Africa.
