DISCLAIMER: Please see the razib 1: 33 pm on May 16, 2009 | it is probably a defensible position that there are three great macrocivilizations from which all societies draw for their "higher" aspects: that of the greater west, india and china. e.g., the cultures of southeast asia have various indic, sinic and islamic contributions. despite the current dichotomy between islam and christendom the qualitative distinction between two civilizations and that of hindu india and the far east has always been evident to insiders and outsiders in these societies (e.g., chinese and hindus would sometimes confuse christians and muslims). taki's mag i point out the peculiarity that while the societies of the west have been characterized by ideological revolution, those of the east have been characterized by evolution. the next post / next comment
