  • noun A machine for compressing and displacing air, in which the elements which compress the air or constitute the blowing-engine have a rotary instead of a reciprocating motion, and receive their motion and power from a steam turbine directly connected to their revolving shaft. When used for ventilating only it is called a turbo-ventilator (which see).
