  • noun The aggregate of symptoms, the most marked of which is anemia, due to the presence in the intestine of the uncinaria or hookworm. Also called ancylostomiasis (which see), dochmiasis, hookworm disease, miners’ anemia, St. Gotthard disease, tunnel anemia, etc.
