  • n. A division of the Lower Silurian, extending from near Lake Ladoga to beyond Reval on the Gulf of Finland, and characterized by the presence of so-called ungulites (Obolus apollinis), one of the characteristic brachiopods of the primordial fauna. So named by Pander.
