- In anatomy and physiology, secreting or excreting urine; urinific; uriniparous; urogenous: noting urinary or uriniparous organs or their function: as, the uropoietic system; the uropoietic viscera. The epithet is applicable not only to the kidneys, but to associated structures, as the reni-portal venous system, and also to the representative urinary organs, often very different, of those animals which have no true kidneys, as the Wolffian bodies of the lower invertebrates, and the water-vascular system of various invertebrates.
