There is a United States tutoring site called 'wyzant' that actually uses the word maths rather than 'math'. Having reviewed the ever excellent site, wordnik, I get it that 'Maths' is correct; therefore I learned something! However, since the word simply is not used in American English, is this sort of dumb? Yes.. I have a life, but you know how it is to be a language person. It never sleeps...

see maths it probably sounds different because the British use 'maths', North America usually says 'Math', but the word is short for mathematics which ends in a s.

Umm, they can use whatever they want. 'Flickr' is not a 'correct' word either but it's understandable.
