  • Both lanolin and agnolin refer to purified sheeps' wool fat. Also adeps lanae. The words have at their root a Latin term; agnus, "lamb"; and lāna, "wool". The "-olin" string comes from Latin oleum, "oil".

    The term agnin also refers to the fatty substance derived from sheeps' wool.
