  • I thought the mango chutney sucked too. Glad it wasn't just me. I'll try the lime stuff. I'm not sure I've ever seen it in the U.S. but I'm sure one can order it.

The curry paste is really the only thing I buy nowadays for the same reason you state. We recently got some really good spices. (Here's the company, if anyone's interested.)

  • I've had their chutneys - the lime pickle is the best commercially available but the mango sucks, in my opinion. Actually these days we're all about grindin' our own spices and I haven't bought a Patak's paste for about three years, but my favourites were the Jalfrezi and the Madras.

Non-Indian stuff, I had no idea they made it. I'll have to check it out. Actually I wouldn't mind trying my own marsala sauce.

  • Yarb, have you tried some of the other stuff Patak's makes? Like the marsala sauce and stuff?

  • *crosses street*

  • I won't get any mild on your ass, yarb, I promise. I'll be real careful. But you're going to have to keep your ass out of my mild curry paste, as well. I mean, it's a two-way street.

    September 19, 2008

  • Yarb, you vindaloonatic.

  • n.b. Patak makes the best curry paste - sometimes in the supermarket I can't help opening the jars just to sniff them.

    September 18, 2008

  • Don't be getting mild on my ass, cb!

    September 18, 2008

  • I usually get mild. Cuz I'm a weakling.
