- n. The eviction of all a building's tenants on the grounds that a large-scale renovation is planned.
They say they are victims of a new trend in B.C. - nicknamed "renoviction" - in which landlords evict tenants by announcing big renovation plans.
Some landlords have used the pretence of renovations to turn out renters paying less than market rates, an act casually known as a "renoviction."
Once out, the tenants are not allowed to renew their leases until they agree to monstrous rent increases, sometimes double what they paid before the renoviction.
