This article describes the extraordinary situation where a Judge "Mulcted in Costs" a plaintiff who attempted to make an unfounded claim and mislead the courts, the Judge Mulcted the plaintiff and awarded the defendant more than was being claimed by the plaintiff.. It is effectively a punitive fine of a greater amount than that claimed.
