Found in "Piccadilly Jim" by P.G. Woodhouse, in the first line of Chapter XX, Celestine Imparts Information -- "Plit is only as strong as its weakest link."
He was referring to a dull witted character who was about to ruin a sneaky plan. In this use, 'plit' seems to refer to a chain.
