  • One of my favourite Wenglish (South Welsh Valley colloquial) words.

    A cwtch - a cuddle, a hug

Cwtch up to - snuggle up to someone

All cwtched up - wrapped up warm, snuggled closely to or hidden ("She's cwtched her face away")

The Cwtch - a small hidey-hole or shed, sometimes the cupboard under the stairs.

Pronounced "cutch" but with a slightly longer "u", to rhyme with "touch" rather than "hutch"

  • A frivolous, wasteful, trifling person or thing.

First encountered in Georgette Heyer's "Arabella"
