  • I've encountered the term "slug" used to describe a code, keyword or character string that identifies an entity, property or state of being. In general, a slug is an identifier that is human-readable and descriptive, as opposed to an arbitrary identifier like a sequential integer. I have begun using the term "slug" in this manner in my own work.

  • There are some potential variations of this word that I would like to propose.

Monomathy: The act of focusing on one area of study to the exclusion of others. (In a world in which knowledge is multiplying exponentially, one may have to do this to keep his sanity!)

Monomathist: A person who focuses on one area of study to the exclusion of others.

Hypermonomathy: Extreme monomathy; monomathy that is unhealthy.

  • I propose "mulierism" (from the Latin mulier "woman") as an alternative to "feminism." Mulierism would refer to doctrines or movements promoting conservative, traditionalist or Christian notions of women. See more at http://bienv.com/mulierism.
