  • I use math as a verb quite often. It was nice to discover through Erin's TED Talk that I've been using functional shift all along in changing the part of speech of a common word. I teach English and decided one day that I had earned the right to use any word in whatever way I wanted or needed. I encourage students to do the same--surely we have the right as we're all experts in the English language.
