SilversleevesX You have no definition. Modern Irish usage is "convention." Arthur Griffith's original Sinn Fein party, founded in 1904, popularised this usage of the word, though it has also been used and applied to the annual conventions of Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, and other nationalist and Republican groups. My sources include three Tim Pat Coogan books and personal researches going back to 1989. Jul 16, 2011
