An expensive player who turns out to be a waste of money. Literally means rubbish bin. And not the teeny ones like the icon on your computer desktop but the gaping, hungry ones outside apartment buildings. A famous bidone was the English striker Luther Blisset whose name became so synonymous with incompetence that it was adopted by a group of political activists as a kind of statement that they had opted out of conventional society.
