But where I draw the line is when that promotion crosses over into "blatant" territory, where everything we say and do is designed to push our product, where every encounter we have on an online forum or blog or in a chatroom is an opportunity to sell, sell, sell.
No, I am not talking about text messages, emails, or slang chatroom words, I am talking about words that actually come out of your mouth.
Same thing for Michael's thinking that "chatroom" meant a nightclub in NYC, even though it had a www and a password.
And as silly as it was that Michael didn't figure out the whole "chatroom" thing, you have to remember that this is a comedy ... and that means we're supposed to suspend our disbelief.
If we chat, be it on IRC or on IM, or any other kind of chatroom, we know that there are often multiple intertwined conversations going on at the same time.
The psychedelic realm has the visual flexibility of a multimedia installation or high-bandwidth website, forcing me to consider that it's actually designed as a communications system: a sort of neurochemically derived "chatroom" populated by all manner of colorful "avatars."
While it initially looks neat, the version I used lacked "chatroom" capability IRC, aim chatrooms etc and the only way to do it was with extremely non-standard plugins - each plugin basically reinventing the wheel and looking different and not even being able to interact with other plugins like smileys.
Tours of Gemini North, Subaru, UKIRT, Keck, Apex and Alma etc etc. Just ignore the chatroom which is more than usually vacuous.
