  • kaipability /ˌkaɪpəˈbɪlɪti/ (noun) — the capability to change capability: the qualified ability to acquire, absorb, adapt and reshape what a system can do, while it is still running. More broadly, the ability of an organisation to change what it can make or do, repeatedly, without losing what it already does reliably.

Etymology: 改 (kai, change, reform, correction), the shared character of kaizen (改善, continuous improvement) and kaikaku (改革, transformation), + capability. Pronounced as capability, with kai (as in sky) in place of ca.

“The factory had the equipment but lacked the kaipability to bring a new product to market without disrupting existing lines.”
