    Remember when you were a kid, and you heard other people use a word, but you never saw the word spelled out before so you go ahead and write it down on paper and its all wrong but you show that word to a friend and your friend tells you you're doing it wrong and you're only embarrassed for a minute.

    Now, thanks to the internet, a funny mistake gets shared with a dozen friends, then dozens more. Then hundreds, thousands. And then your typo makes national news. And "kudatah" becomes one of those polarizing words that confirms our biases.

    I'm sure the person who coined this word didn't realize the serious implications of the French word that they were trying to copy.
