  • Canadians like to put -ette on lots of things. A small studio apartment (a garçonniere) is a bachelorette; a postage-stamp-sized bit of greenery in Toronto is called a parkette; and so on. So I wonder if this too is a Canadianism.

  • My favorite "ette" ever was the "Superette" down the street from where I used to live in Philadelphia. Not even a decent word between the prefix and suffix!
