  • noun A basic substance, C5H12N2O2, which, in combination with a guanidin radical, constitutes arginin, one of the most constant decomposition-products of the albumins. In the form of ornithuric acid it is obtained from the urine of chickens after feeding them with benzoic acid. Structurally it is A-D-diamino-valerianic acid.
