grandpa27 Years ago I came across "sockdollager" in a essay by Charles Sanders Pierce, a 19th century logician. He wrote in the 1880's. The word has stuck with me, but I have never seen it in a dictionary. It is slang of an earlier age. Mar 30, 2009
