    Also called tonga, a tanga is a light, horse-drawn carriage used for transportation in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. Popular because they're cheaper to hire than a taxi or rickshaw, they're nonetheless slow and the ride can be difficult because they have no shock absorbers. Tangas are usually pulled by two horses, but some use just one. They were a common means of transportation in urban India and Pakistan until the early 1980s, but are less popular today.
