  • The third movie in a series. Lately the trend has been to take a successful stand-alone film and try to turn it into an epic trilogy. Invariably the second movie will be little more than contrived exposition, but threequels aren't always fully bad. Usually the popcorn-munching public will be happy with all three movies, but critics and cinema buffs will curse and scorn the studios responsible for corrupting the good first movie with two crappy follow-ups.
