A 19 year old guy, when asked for the more common name of a bird that is also known as a timberdoodle, wood snipe, bog sucker, and night partridge, couldn't come up with the answer.
Also called timberdoodle, woody and bog snipe, they're classified shorebirds but live in the woods and are most active at night.
I met a police officer that works the canine unit in Albany last year that invited me to hunt some of his fine timberdoodle land he said it looks like the forest floor is comeing up like a huge quail covey.
