- To deprive of the qualities of a woman; unsex. Sandys, tr. of Ovid's Metamorph., ii.

Many believe that the only way to avoid having themselves declared “unwoman” is to act on behalf of patriarchy and discipline other women.
The black woman has long been considered the eternal “unwoman” and “other” in comparison to a white woman and it is only when placed against an intersex woman that somehow Venus can finally have her womanhood validated.
The black woman has historically been constructed as the ultimate “unwoman” to justify the exploitation that we have been subjected.
We are the ultimate ‘unwoman’; our bodies are deemed unrapeable and therefore we are not considered to exist with the ability to be violated.
A local paper applauded the decision, concluding that to admit women would “unwoman the woman and unman the man.”
