The translator, as he calls the author of _Beowulf_, may, through misconception, have regarded "var," the second part of the name "Bọðvar," as "vargr" and translated it faithfully into AS. "wulf."
_vargr-i-véum_, _i. e._, wolf in the sanctuary, and is forced to go into exile.
