I've only ever seen this spelled vinaigrette. This one's cute though. :) (Reminds me of cigaret vs. cigarette.)

Mimics the Russian spelling. And, when I did a recipe search in earnest about a year ago - I remember well, cause I was making it for a dinner party and wanted to compare a few different recipes to make sure I had a good one - there were more hits on vinaigret. Plus, I think it's a useful distinction: vinaigrette the dressing, vinaigret the Russian-style salad.

Oh, I agree, there's a usefulness in the different spellings. I just hadn't seen this one before. :)
