cultural group primarily found in East Germany between the Elbe and Oder Rivers especially along the Spree river (Spreewald). Term is little used in present day by the designated cultural group, preferring rather sorbian, srbi, and serbski. Of Slavic descent of the Milceni and Lucinski tribes they have successfully resisted extermination throughout times of German oppression, most recently during Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany.
