  • In Italian, the word "nipote" means both nephew/niece and grandchild. Abiatico, from Latin aviaticum "grandparent's", can be used as an unequivocal translation of grandchild. But 98% of Italians will not understand, I guess, because it's archaic - I found it once in a history textbook, and that's all.
