Towns used in works of fiction to signify that (at least from the outside) it's a typical American town. A town that something happens to. Small town or suburban.

I'd rather they be fictional towns (not Scranton, PA). Springfield violates that idea, except that the show deliberately hid which state's Springfield it was until recently.

Nightvale, Neptune, Twin Peaks and Eureka hint at something more and require a different list.
